Privacy

This site collects as little as a website can. There are no accounts, no forms, no newsletter, no advertising and no third-party fonts or images. Pages are served as static documents.

Analytics. The site uses privacy-first, cookieless analytics provided by its hosting network. A small script delivered with each page reports page views, the referring site and page performance, such as load time, and these are seen only as aggregate totals. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, collects no personal data, does not fingerprint or follow you across other sites, and is not used for advertising. The figures are never sold or shared.

Cookies and storage. The site sets no cookies. If you switch between the light and dark theme, your choice is stored in your own browser's local storage under a single key and is never transmitted anywhere. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

Server logs. The hosting platform that serves the site records standard request logs (the address requested, the time, the response code, the requesting browser's user agent and an IP address) for operational and security purposes. These logs are retained for a short period by the platform and are not used to identify or profile visitors.

Email. If you write to the editor, your message and address are kept for as long as needed to deal with it and then deleted, unless you have contributed to an archive record and asked to be credited by name, in which case your name (only) is kept on the page.

Your rights. Under the data protection laws that apply in the European Union and the United Kingdom you may ask what personal data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to your national supervisory authority. Write to the address on the contact page.

Changes. This policy is revised when the site's practices change. The current version applies from the review month shown on the page footer.

Images and fonts. Photographs and figures on every page are served from this domain, and the site loads no fonts from another host, so opening a page does not tell any other site what you read beyond the aggregate analytics described above.
